For Episode Two us Jerks begin by discussing our own work experiences in relation to the show. To wrap things up we discuss what Springfield citizen has the hardest job. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed recording it!
This episode was good. I think it appealed to me in the sense it probably appeals to a lot of long time fans of the show, in that a lot of us (especially those of us in our 30s and older) experienced something you discussed; we saw the work-related stories and gags before we entered the work force, and can now relate to being in the work force as well. We get both perspectives. I work in IT for a fairly large organization so there aren't a lot of story-lines that play directly into what I do, but The Simpsons doesn't need to do that. There are other shows and entertainment (Dilbert, for example) that capture that environment well enough. But the general feeling about work getting in the way of life is represented well. As a father of 2 young kids, Homer's plague... er, plaque, is always a touching moment that I can directly relate to; my cubicle at work is plastered with photos of my kids, Last quick note, I submitted my "whoever gives Homer his sponge-baths" answer as somewhat of a joke for who has the worst job in Springfield, so I'll chime in with a real answer. The Pimple-Faced Teen. That kid has held every horrible "first job" around, and overall he probably has the shittiest job with the worst pay. Anyone who's worked retail knows what kind of crap he has to put up with. Great episode, looking forward to the next one!
